If you hear of someone with mud butt getting into a hot tub, don't use that hot tub.

Nothing you can do about it unfortunately. Just avoid their water altogether. Even the steam will infect you.

From the article:

The illness isn't spread by drinking or swimming and usually isn't transmitted from one person to another, officials said.

Unless you are filtering the air I suppose a filter will not help.

My understanding is the Legionnaire's is caused by getting the water droplets in your LUNGS. So when the water or the plumbing has the bacteria present, and you shower there, water droplets are aerosolized and you breathe them in. It's not the drinking water, it's the *inhaled* water. If we are playing hypotheticals, I think you'd need to bring a sun shower type set up and filter the ingoing water.

I feel like the people who drank contaminated water at Clearwater Campground also have a false advertising lawsuit

Legionnaires' disease is a serious form of pneumonia caused by exposure to legionella bacteria. It can be contracted by breathing in contaminated water droplets from the environment. It would be very difficult to prevent when camping.
