Hey folks! I am from Scotland, and will be visiting NH for one week in December staying around Lake Winnipesaukee area. I will then drive to NYC. I am wondering what are the best things to do that time of year and if there are any events going on? Really could be anything! Some other questions:
- Is it likely to be snowy in early December?
- Is hiking okay in North Conway and Sandwich this time of year? What hikes around these areas are best?
- What clothes should I bring, and more specifically what shoes? Will one pair of hiking boots and one pair of sneakers be sufficient?
- Will I be able to ice skate on frozen lakes or does it depend on the weather?
- Can I go fishing?
- What kind of Christmas events will be going on?
- Are there any spots on the way to NYC I should hit up? Perhaps somewhere in Conn?
Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Thank you so much for the replies everyone!!! Got tons of great suggestions and advice. I should have said originally that I am going to a wedding in NYC which is why I am flying out in the first place, so not looking to change that part of the plan unfortunately. Thanks again, so excited!

Honestly its all dependent on whether the weather wants to be nice or not, most of the time in December lakes are mostly safe to skate on, to get a official report u can just search up the lake you want to go to and most of them will have an ive thickness or a warning wether u can skate or not, and you can fish here if you have a license and they are extremely easy to get here i think like 25-50 dollars, and with hiking thats all what your willing to do most hiking mountains are open year round, and make sure u have good insulated boots cuz screw these winters lmao but have fun when ur here definitely a beautiful place to see
