Not exactly “easy” to get a non resident LTC in ma. I was a mass resident with an LTC, moved to NH, took me 3.5 years to get my non resident for ma and had to jump through a hassle of hoops. Have to renew it annually instead of 5 years, pay again. They make it so you won’t do it.

Moved back to ma, LTC was reinstated no issues. Dumb, but for whatever reason as a non resident they weren’t excited to give it to me

Why would it take you 3.5 years? Did you wait 3 years to apply?

Back when I did it you needed an in person meeting in Chelsea. And I had to wait when I scheduled that meeting, which they cancelled and rescheduled twice, and gave me the run around till I was finally able to go. After 2017 they’ve made it more available by mail, now you only need to go once every 6 years but still reapply annually but before that. It was garbage.

Interesting, I’ve heard it’s better than it used to be. For me I applied in March 2021, interviewed in July, received it in December 2021. They seemed to misplace it and I had to call them every week or two in the fall to keep the process moving.

The nice thing about it is even if you never renew it you get lifetime protection from being charged with a crime for carrying without a license. Instead you get a civil offense and hefty fine for carrying with an expired license. Beats prison.
