Back in the late 80s there was a restaurant adjacent to South River Road in Bedford pretty much sharing the same parking lot as the old Jordan Marsh. (Where the TD Bank is now.) Does anyone recall what it was called? I thought it was called Quackers but my BIL thinks that was the name of the restaurant associated with the old Sheraton Wayfarer.

I feel like the restaurant had lattice fencing but I’m going off a sketchy memory.

Is my memory of the location pretty accurate? And was there lattice fencing that you recall? I need to figure out if I have dementia. Lol

As I told someone else, I found a corporate listing for that restaurant in 1985 but it was at 7 Upjohn St which would put it at JM. The place I’m thinking was right on South River Road right at the highway underpass.

I did find old matchbooks online too for both restaurants and Bedford Marketplace matchbook says “Jordan Marsh Mall” and the one for “Quackers” says Bedford Exit off 293. So helpful. Lol

Man, Good trivia ? Sheraton was out back by the cut threw to the B mall. Never recall a restaurant up front where TD is now. Maybe there was. Be in the area my whole life.

I swear there was one right next to the 293 underpass in the parking lot.

I do recall my father making some sort of lame Dad joke when we’d exited the highway to turn onto South River Rd. like “What do they serve with their soup at that place? Quackers.” but I don’t know if it was because of that place or a sign associated with the Sheraton Wayfarer at the opening to Jordan Marsh. You could get to the Sheraton from either the Bedford Mall or Jordan Marsh.

My husband worked the loading docks at Jordan Marsh for years. I thought if anyone would know, it would be him, but he doesn’t remember the name! I was quite disappointed, but alas, we are getting old.

Right?! I’m going off a young teenager’s memory for this one. I moved to CA in 98 when I was in my early 20s, so I can’t even place names of streets anymore when my family (who are still local) mentions them.

1973-74 there was a ski outlet on that building. Was not there long but I remember as that was where I bought my first metal skis. At the time an unknown brand named Blizzard. Dovre bindings. Afterwards if became a fern and basket joint type restaurant.

The Sheraton Wayfarer did become a Quality Inn at some point. Maybe that's the Q word you're thinking of?

I’m not sure when it became a Quality Inn but it was still known owned by Sheraton back in 2000 when I had my wedding rehearsal dinner there. Don’t know the name of the restaurant though

There was a restaurant closer to the road, it was a red building but my dad doesn’t remember the name. A little bit behind where TD bank is now.
