Keene is a beautiful college town and might be a fun place to meet some like-minded people. I hope that you find your crowd. :)

I (27M) was in the same boat when I moved here three years ago, NH is especially hard for meeting new friends. I met lots of people through mainly 3 avenues: Meetup (app) stuck to 20s and 30s groups because everything else is old people lol. Soccer, joined through mysocialsports. (They also do volleyball bowling Cornhole etc..) also the nemba for mountain biking Young professionals networking, Manchester and Keene have pretty active young professionals networks, Nashua's is coming back. Depends on what you like but I say find activities or sports you like and just start going, that's where people like you will be!

Thank you that’s super helpful I don’t do much other than work and that’s definitely a huge issue with not meeting anyone new but I’ll take your suggestions and give it a try by getting involved thank you so much !

Hey. I have been living in Portsmouth for a while and have a few ideas.

I also have a 21yo son that just moved to Charleston SC but when he is home he enjoys going out to the Press Room to see some music and TJs but he says mostly college kids and not his thing anymore . He always winds up there though :)

If going out to bars isn’t your thing got some other options. Volunteer for the Music Hall . Just starting to do that. Mostly older people but good way to meet local folks and see some good movies and bands . The Portsmouth Makers Space is good if you want to make stuff and needs volunteers and PMAC is great to join and look for a way to get involved if you enjoy art. The Gundalow in the summer is a great way place to volunteer and get free river crusades. Have some friends that do that.

Jimmys Jazz also has volunteer slots I believe and very cool place.

Good luck. Feel free to DM if any follow up needed

Look for local clubs that center around your interests.

Also, it's been a while since I've done this but it looks like downtown Portsmouth (the historic part) is a good place to go and hang out. The clubs I used to go to are long gone but I'm sure there are still some good hangouts.

In general meetup groups provide a great avenue to make friends.

In specific winter hiking with experienced individuals will form bonds quickly because of the many, many things that make circumstances challenging and difficult. Helping each other out in small but significant ways is strong currency.

I would not recommend gathering friends and going for anything more than a walk up and down Lincoln Woods though. Consider an AMC course.

Year and a half or 11/2= 5.5 years?

Also, no clue. Just moved up here myself and I have to say the locals at the few bars I’ve gone to are… weathered.

Durham for the college aged people, Dover has places like the climbing gym.

New Hampshire people aren't good for making friends. They are great friends. But we tend to be pretty reclusive.

Look into meetup.com, there are a lot of groups in the area. Find something you like doing, and attend an event. I met my wife this way (we’re big into board games, we’ve met a lot of people this way).

Best bet is finding people through activities you enjoy. Most of my friends moved but I’ve made some new ones through cycling. There’s a lot of good riding (mountain, road, and gravel) around the area as well. If you stop at a place that is involved in the hobby of interest, you’ll usually meet folks with the same interest. That’s what my dad told me and it’s worked out fairly well in my experience. Good luck with meeting folks!

Portsmouth Young Professionals group? What do you like to do? There are hiking FB groups you could join and join in on a hike. There are bike groups you could join too. Volunteer for Prescott Park and see free concerts/shows...meet people that way. Good luck.

Good luck I’m still rocking the same group from when I graduated high school (minus a few dickweeds who were “terminated” from the group)

Goodluck, my better half 21 (f) is in the same boat, no time or place for it nowadays. Just school and work. I'll be following.

Hey there, I am in the same boat and I unfortunately haven't had any luck as well. I am 24 & attending grad school here so I feel like if I were to join clubs in undergrad colleges, it may be weird. It's hard to get out and meet people when the only option is sports related, I am not a huge fan of playing sports & I have tried using meetup.com and discord, but it's so spaced out. I have been doing my own thing, but I would love to meet others! It is definitely a culture shock up here, for sure.
