Hello. Im looking for some good, affordable mental health facilities. I dont wish to go into detail, but i have some issues that are affecting my marraige and i need help. Id like to get some help but its so hard and theres such a wait. Im waiting on a response from great bay mental health, but that could be months. Do you guys have any suggesttions to go and just get someone to talk to? Thanks.

Sometimes you can skip the wait if you book through your insurance

I’ll second Zocdoc. It has been my experience that the providers will submit available times on that platform but if you call the provider directly they will say they are fully booked. Try making the appt through zocdoc. Good luck, I hope you find the help that you are looking for.

Ask your PCP. They quietly keep a list of psychologists who are affordable and accommodating. My PCP says mental health is now simply, "part of her practice" as options are so limited. She says she has both active and retired counselors she sends people to see. Yours might have the same.

Yes mental health is atrocious to get to see someone. Yet all we hear is if you have issues see a counselor. Oh the duality!

Frankly, all seeing your PCP does, is gets you a prescription for some meds. Nothing about getting some real help. Just dope the person up and call it a day

Chesnut hill in dover. I didn't particularly mesh well with my therapist personally but she was the only one in network at the time.

Women’s counseling of Nashua has some very affordable options- and they do virtual visits if you aren’t able to go in office

Joe Seacoast Mental Health . Sounds like you’re in the Seacoast region if you’re talking to Great Bay. Chestnut Hill and separately Millbrook Counseling in Dover are also private practice groups that are excellent.

If you are a woman and near Nashua check out women’s mental health of Nashua. They tend to cater to regular folk so it’s not super expensive. I don’t k ow your situation but if drugs are involved this is a great resource. Best of luck and I hope you find peace soon. ❤️

Betterhelp.com If you can’t find one local, you should look into an online therapist.

You can also try calling your insurance company and they might have a list of in-network therapists.

Depends which health insurance you have since that is going to be a limiter on who you can see, and how you get in without huge out of pocket costs. I know I need a referral first for it to be covered, it has to be someone in network... there's a good chance your doctor will just refer you into their hospital network's mental health offices for an appointment and they'll pick whoever has the most availability.

And you have to call and call to badger them about appointments and scheduling... a real joy for anyone with anxiety.

Also, if no insurance just check in to whatever local ER...to be safe. It's not easy/fun but there are folks there that will set you up for care. Including getting you signed up for State insurance.

It's most important that you are safe!

Dial 211 or go to 211.org. Every state has a 211 hotline to help connect people with resources. Mental health, physical health, food, shelter, financial etc.
