Called my local PD and couldnt answer. Is a car underglow illegal? Like driving on public roads while being on. Im reading online, no red, blue, amber or green lights…but everything else is fine, then i see other articles saying it is not allowed on public roads due to distracting other drivers. Any attorney’s in here or anyone thatd know about this?

Edit: i cant believe how many adults that act like children on here, i asked a question, if you have an answer then answer it, if you dont then move on & stop worrying about my vehicle modifications.

I don't know if they're illegal, but, the roads in NH will chew them up and chances are you'll be replacing them regularly

This website about laws concludes that given there's no specific NH law against it, it's legal. https://www.neonlaws.com/new-hampshire/

Is it removable, though? Laws do change, so it'd suck for you to make a permanent change only to have them outlaw it while you own the car. I mean, I've seen cars with purple underglow and it is distracting, which does make me wonder if it'll be cracked down on...anyway, if it's removable, you're better off.

Post the car you wanna light up. I could use a laugh.

Edit: Please tell me it's not the Kia Spectra you've been posting about 😂

Recently had some installed and I've passed quite a few cops since and haven't had any issues. As you said avoid the emergency lights colors and it's fine.

You can technically get pulled over for having any emergency light color, or anything that's not illuminated solid. I thought people stopped doing this 15 years ago though lol

Not illegal (unless emergency colors), but definitely will make you look like a Douchebag

I mean, you're the "adult" possibly wanting to put undercarriage lights. So... there's that. It's also lame as hell and should be illegal. If you can't see maybe don't drive at night. 🤷‍♀️

Because i think it looks cosmetically cool, its like people who put LED lights up in their room. The under glow isnt headlights, i dont get how your brain would think that itd make me see better? Its a cosmetic customization. Now you look stupid. And i dont give a fuck what you or anyone would think is lame, i do things for me cause i enjoy them. Keep it moving kate!

I look lame because I think you're lame? 🤣👏 Whatever makes you feel better. Women think drawn on eyebrows look cosmetically better, but that doesn't mean it is. LOL. Men think toupees look cosmetically better. it doesn't mean they do. You do you. I don't care how many people you make laugh when you drive by. You need to be seen. You need attention. I get it. You got it lifted, too, I'm assuming. For your drive to the office. When I see these trucks, this is what I think... 🤏🔬. Nothing makes it bigger. It's just not possible.

Okay and what other women & men do is what they want to do, it isnt to please you or anyone but themself, not everything is about you kate…enough with ur ego. Its not about attention its just what i think would look cool. Again…for me, not you or anyone..also i dont drive a truck, its a new car i just bought from the dealership 2 days ago that id like to customize how i like. Keep driving ur rusted 1999 ford

I was in high school the first time these things were popular; back then, had a bunch of cars with them in the fall, and the numbers dropped off precipitously with the first couple snows. Between sand and salt getting kicked up, plus bumping over snow and ice, they didn't last at all. I imagine the modern LED based ones would survive better, but given how well headlights do in the spray around here, they're going to look like sludge unless you're under there cleaning them off every 10 miles or so.

If you're going to do it, do it in the spring and do the install in a way you can get them off in the fall if you want them for more than a season.
