I live in Lee and am the only idiot on my drive without a generator. 27 hours offline so far. Everyone here in town has a well so that's a lot of deciding when to flush a toilet. It's good to suffer every now and then to remember how good we have it here though
Lee here. I have a spare genny. PM me and I can drop it off if you like.
damn you the real OG dude
>It's good to suffer every now and then to remember how good we have it.
That is some serious optimism.
A lesson from those of us who once lived in areas with hurricanes, next time fill the tub with water and use that water to flush the toilets. Great news on the loan of the generator by sonoftelfon works great and hope your power gets restored soon!
Haha so I filled the tub with water out before our first storm here in Lee
I woke up to an empty tub and a burned out boiler motor. Tub drained on it all night.
/u/sonogteflon seems like a saint, I agree
It’s wild how localized this is. I’m a few miles from you in Newmarket and we never lost it once! It flickered for a little while last night but that was all. Very grateful for this. Stay warm!
Headed to a holiday gathering in Lee later today. A generator powdered one!
If your route takes you down Wednesday Hill road on the Mast Way end... Find a way around. Trees down and the police say it's closed indefinitely.
Wow! This reminds me of that big rain storm back in 2007 that left me stranded at home (I lived in Nottingham at the time) because the road was flooded in two directions and a bridge washed out in the third direction.
We'll be on Lee Hook Road today, so hopefully we'll be good.
Oh no your fish tank :(((
Southern nh. No power since 5 pm last night. 7 20 am now and still no power.
Same! Ours went out around 530 - all of Concord went out
We're BACK!
Nashua, no power since 5 PM yesterday. Also hoping the fish tank holds out. :-(
We've got a 55 gallon, I've layered numerous blankets on it so it can retain heat - my bf thinks I'm crazy haha
We’re BACK @ 8:45 AM
edit: the fish appear to have made it unscathed
Congrats! That’s a relief. Glad the fish made it.
Unfortunately, you're not crazy. My furnace broke in February, and unfortunately I didn't realize until the next morning that the tension rods-held shelf in the tank stand collapsing earlier that week had unplugged the tank heater. Just having no heat for 24ish hours killed 1/2 of my tropical fish.
I'm rooting for your fish pulling through
Did the fish do okay?
They did!! None lost!
Awesome!
if you have hand warmers you can put a few in a ziplock bag (probably double or triple bag it) rinse the outside of the bag and drop it in for a few hours. I think Petsmart is open you can get a little thermometer for like $2.99 that will sit on the glass inside the tank
I know this may seem weird but you use those tiny hand warmers / foot warmers double sealed obviously and that may keep your tank warm.
Almost 16 hours at my place in Franklin. Might spend Christmas in a hotel.
Keep DO in mind as well as heat. You can take some water out in a glass and pour it back in from a good height. Do that a few times every few hours.
This sub has checked in on me more than my dad has in the last two years
Milford. Still no power since 430pm yeatersay
Unitil is still assessing in the Concord area - hopefully comes on soon
I’m in Concord, near downtown and was lucky to get power back around 7:30 last night.
The road by my house is dry. I guess the wind evaporated the water before the flash freeze. I’m interested in knowing about ice on roads elsewhere.
Sorry to hear that. Pembroke was out for six hours but Eversource got the power back on at the estimated time.
Definitely buying a whole house generator this time. $10K is worth it not to have this kind of uncertainty.
And then the power never goes out again!
Bought a standby like 10 years ago now, power went out once for 4 hours once since then. We used to lose power every other storm + during thunder storms in the summer
Nah. Pretty consistent, we lose power several times a year. Eversource is good about getting it back but still we could be out for an indefinite number of days. Time to get the generator and one that my wife doesn't have to know how to use.
Haha. That was why we went to the standby, did all the work ourselves so the only real cost was the plumber for the propane and the generator itself
We lost power around 530 pm last night. I am grateful we were talked into a generator when the house was built.
Barrington no power since Friday morning
We just got power
I'm in Barrington and I got power back around 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. last night
Brentwood, no power since 5:30 last night and Eversource has no ETA on restoration. We have a fire going which is keeping the indoor temp at a balmy 53°. Hope everyone stays warm.
Rollinsford - lights flickered a couple times but no loss of power
Same in Somersworth
Bow, lost power at 5 pm, had it back for an hour, been out since. Apparently trees and lines are blocking roads everywhere here.
Edit: i have an idea, may be dumb, but.. do you have a propane grill or anything? Heat water that way for the tank?
Derry. No power since 830am yesterday. Was told multiple times by eversource we should have power by 8pm. Nope. Stayed in the house w 2 young children. It’s 47* in the house now.
One of the screens blew out of the window yesterday and I have not put it back yet. Anyone care to wager on how quickly I'll get around to it? It's easy and it'll take a minute, so I am guessing it'll be in the garage for months.
Loudon, no power since Friday 745 am, no estimate of when it will be back. We've got a generator for our heat so we at least aren't worried about our pipes freezing.
Ugh. Stay warm. Our power is still out as well. No generator but we have a gas fireplace so we have a little heat on the ground floor.
Many thanks to all the linemen and workers (!!) out there who are missing out on family and holiday time, not to mention sleep, so the rest of us can enjoy. It’s a sacrifice and appreciate you!
Power went out around 530-6 last night for us, came back on around 230am. Went back out a little before 7 and came back on about 10 minutes ago.
Over 24 hours without power, bought a generator at 6am, but got an Eversource text as soon as I got home that restore ETA is 4pm, so as soon as it comes back on, I’ll go return it so someone else can get it (it’s still in the car).
Hooksett/Manchester area. Had some power surges last night, but luckily still have our power. Some snow fell during the rapid freeze. If anyone’s going out today, be careful!!
Our lights were flickering BAD. We were musing if it was the power surging or the lightbulb dying. It's good to know I was correct. It was a power surge.
The paving outside of our domicile is an ice rink. I'm hoping I don't have to leave.
Wilton, no power since 6pm
Webster, not too far from Carter Hill. Lost power around 4:30 last night and got it back at 4:30 am. Hopefully yours is back soon!
Only lost power for 3 hours, thankfully, or I would have had to move my exotic pet out of her normally toasty warm room and into an awful cage in a tiny room and use myself as body heat.
What type of pet? Glad you’re both staying warm!
Macaw. She's a grumpy girl, too, so no fun would have been had.
Yikes! I’m in Chichester and haven’t had any issues with power. Sorry you’re dealing with that!
Downtown Concord here, our power was out from 5:30 until 7:30. Good Luck!
Howdy neighbor, down the road from you a bit. Lost power a few times but has remained on. Our Betta is grateful, I hope your fish are ok!
We're in Loudon and lost power at 830am yesterday. Made the difficult decision to still drive to Mom's house in NJ for Xmas hoping things would be fixed sooner rather than later. Didn't realize we'd get another bad wind storm late afternoon.
This morning - Still no power at the house, no Eversource updates, ppl on Facebook saying lots of roads in town are still closed, ppl without power, damage assessment is still ongoing, etc.
Getting worried about the temp of the house, especially since we left our cat home... Gonna try to have a local friend drive over to check on things, maybe start a fire in our wood burner if he can, but if not, we might have to bite the bullet and come back to NH today/first thing tomorrow :(
Edit/update: power came back on Xmas Eve around 1030pm. House was at 45°, it's now at the usual 65°. hope kitty's ok 🎄😺
I'm not too far from Loudon, if your friend isn't able to help out I, I'd be happy to go over and get a fire going and drip your faucets if you're not on a well. I've got plenty of dry firewood for my own stove. DM me if you need the help
Thank you so much, friend! We're still kind of playing it by ear, hoping things might improve and/or our friend might be able to swing by... We'll let you know!
Merrimack - my daughter is there and she told me that there were no problems last night. I drove to Boston to my mother's house and stayed overnight - it was a challenging drive. Checked the house and went around and picked up branches from around the property this morning. I'll see how things are in a few hours when I return to NH.
My wife sent me a picture of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore at the manicured gardens and told me it was 32 degrees C (90 F) there and sent a bunch of pictures.
New Ipswich/Greenville had rolling power outages, a large tree falling across 124 and catching on the main power lines. But looks like most power is restored now.
Hanover, no power yet :( I have a huge medical licensing exam in a few days and using my MacBook air at lowest screen brightness to study
Edit power came back at 5 pm!
Book a hotel for a couple nights somewhere else if your macbook runs out of power
Yeah I ended up going to the hospital's library and will more than likely need to get a hotel
Hello neighbor (also by Carter hill) only had lights flicker, never lost power.
I'm on the river and surprisingly only had it flicker as well, despite that blast at 5pm taking down tons of branches.
Exeter area, power went out at 5pm last night and still out. This will be the last storm I go through without a generator, brutal mistake.
East Concord - Hoit Rd area. Going on 27 hours no power
Was without power in south Manchester for about 18 hours, only just came back on. Hang in there crews are out straight and a bit short staffed at the moment.
Hey whoever lives on Dover point road an tried to bitch me out for using ur driveway to turn around when there was lines down n no other place to turn my big ass security truck around I hope u slip on the side walk an shatter ur fuckin hip in like 3 places u old ass piece of trailer trash shit SUCK MY WHOLE DICK FROM THE BACK…otherwise I’m great lol
No power since 5 am yesterday no attempts made at taking the trees off the wires nearby. 🫤
Power back in southern nh
Bedford still no power.
My lights flickered and the WiFi had to restart once last night - boohoo! The roads were nasty between Weare and Deering, with flooding and ice.
Boscawen here. Lost power around 5:00 last night and thankfully it came back on about 1:30am. Had to get the generator going for the fridge since my son is diabetic and I had just gone grocery shopping of course.
sandown nh no power thursday 1am til 230pm on friday then back out fri @ 623 pm ...😖🔫
Amherst, still no power since Friday 5pm. It's 41 in the house. Hiding with the animals undercovers in the bedroom. Eversource claims tomorrow evening... Maybe. A lot of downed trees and wires.
Aww the fish ;(. Before we had a generator we'd heat water on a propane camp stove and add it to the tank.
Southern NH here and somehow didn't lose power. We were ready for it however. Plenty of gasoline and firewood.
Amherst nh, a huge tree hit my house. I need a whole new roof. The main beam and rafters need to be replaced. My house is unsafe to be in. I never lost power! My parents in Bedford are still out of power.
My family in plaistow and Epsom has no power. We lost a piece of fence but never lost power just outside of manchester.
I used an office UPS hooked up to my car battery years ago to save my Congo tetras. Connect the UPS terminals to your car battery and idle your car in the driveway for an hour or so to let the tank warm up and keep the filter alive.
Or just get a real inverter and connect that to your idling car.
Or get a real generator which is way less hassle altogether.
Good luck.
Merrimack; just got back from running outside in 26 degrees. It will take me a while to get used to this. I have been running mostly at the YMCA when it's this cold but they're closed today. We had a big tree come down but it's in a place where it do any damage. No power outages; it's just cold.
Nhec outage report indicates 99.13% of gilford is out. Only 2 house have power. I am one of them. Gotta be an error, I am never that lucky.
Penacook here never lost it but some flickers yesterday
Auburn is still out, massive tree down on hooksett road which is most likely the issue.
We have our power right now, thankfully. We had our power out the entire day yesterday. Our friends, who also live in Auburn, only had their power out for a few hours in the evening. I'm assuming they are on a similar power grid (or whatever it is called) as you guys.
Yea, just got an Eversource update. They’re tackling the tree now so we should be back in an hour or so
Didn't have power from 6ish am until around 10 pm yesterday.
Hoping that today we have power all day since we are hosting a large dinner party tomorrow night.....
Eaton just got power back an hour ago or less.
Still have power in downtown Milford. Other parts of town are out. Roads are fine, except the ones with trees or power lines on them. Very very cold. The smaller towns around here are not doing great, looking at you Lyndeborough and Temple. Hang in there. Lots of trucks out.
We had all the nieces and nephews over for sleepover movie night with their cousin (our son). Power went out for Chester at 6PM or so. That was when I poured myself a stiff G&T. Fortunately, it came back on about 20 mins later and stayed on.
Exeter. Power out around 7pm last night, still out today as of 12:30pm.
Not the cold I'm worried so much as the backup battery on the sump pump lasting another day..
I only lost power briefly where I live in Rochester, however my basement is flooded.
Somersworth - no power since 5 am Friday and not estimated to get it back until 10 pm on the 25th
Lost power yesterday morning in Tuftonboro. Power back on in the afternoon, then out since last evening. Huddling by the fire now.
Plymouth...never lost it. Hope everyone comes back soon 🙏
Pittsfield, lost power 830 am yesterday, no indication of when it could come back on
Our wifi is out but power is on
Londonderry/Manchester. No power since 8 AM. Last update was hopefully it’s back by Christmas night. So much for Christmas at my house.
Tilton- no power since 530pm last night. Eversouce is claiming it will be back up by 10pm tonight. 🤞
[removed]
Just got power back in southern Litchfield about 2 hrs ago.
Lost power for 24 hours near Peterborough. Came back on around 4pm today
Rained a total of 3.75” Friday and Saturday
OP tell us what you would have done differently
Manchester here and no issues. Never lost power or had flickering. The worst for me was having to move all our trash barrels to someplace they wouldn’t blow away.

Lee was hammered. According to NHEC, 100% is out. We lost power around 7 am and while they were slowly restoring it, a squall with 70 mph winds came through and knocked it all back out. Good times. Whoever installed the generator hookup before I bought my house put the plug where a coffee maker would logically go on one of the few circuits that the generator powers. This person is a life saver.
