Lee was hammered. According to NHEC, 100% is out. We lost power around 7 am and while they were slowly restoring it, a squall with 70 mph winds came through and knocked it all back out. Good times. Whoever installed the generator hookup before I bought my house put the plug where a coffee maker would logically go on one of the few circuits that the generator powers. This person is a life saver.

I live in Lee and am the only idiot on my drive without a generator. 27 hours offline so far. Everyone here in town has a well so that's a lot of deciding when to flush a toilet. It's good to suffer every now and then to remember how good we have it here though

That is some serious optimism.

A lesson from those of us who once lived in areas with hurricanes, next time fill the tub with water and use that water to flush the toilets. Great news on the loan of the generator by sonoftelfon works great and hope your power gets restored soon!

Haha so I filled the tub with water out before our first storm here in Lee

I woke up to an empty tub and a burned out boiler motor. Tub drained on it all night.

Just having no heat for 24ish hours killed 1/2 of my tropical fish.

I'm rooting for your fish pulling through

if you have hand warmers you can put a few in a ziplock bag (probably double or triple bag it) rinse the outside of the bag and drop it in for a few hours. I think Petsmart is open you can get a little thermometer for like $2.99 that will sit on the glass inside the tank

DecreeofHonor t1_j1hmum1 wrote

I know this may seem weird but you use those tiny hand warmers / foot warmers double sealed obviously and that may keep your tank warm.

We're in Loudon and lost power at 830am yesterday. Made the difficult decision to still drive to Mom's house in NJ for Xmas hoping things would be fixed sooner rather than later. Didn't realize we'd get another bad wind storm late afternoon.

This morning - Still no power at the house, no Eversource updates, ppl on Facebook saying lots of roads in town are still closed, ppl without power, damage assessment is still ongoing, etc.

Getting worried about the temp of the house, especially since we left our cat home... Gonna try to have a local friend drive over to check on things, maybe start a fire in our wood burner if he can, but if not, we might have to bite the bullet and come back to NH today/first thing tomorrow :(

Edit/update: power came back on Xmas Eve around 1030pm. House was at 45°, it's now at the usual 65°. hope kitty's ok 🎄😺

I used an office UPS hooked up to my car battery years ago to save my Congo tetras. Connect the UPS terminals to your car battery and idle your car in the driveway for an hour or so to let the tank warm up and keep the filter alive.

Or just get a real inverter and connect that to your idling car.

Or get a real generator which is way less hassle altogether.

Good luck.
