I agree with you 100% it’s just that people here will be brutally realistic, and I’m really fucked up over this so any of this is simply what it is “advice from people on Reddit” because I’ve never done any legal stuff before and an above comment has already dropped what could be a reputable lawyer I could try to save for I otherwise wouldn’t know who to ask or where to look

The kids on the internet are brutally unrealistic.

Do you have insurance? Direct it to them. If you don't, then a lawyer. Keep your original copy of the police report to yourself, only hand out copies of it. Good luck.
