Not to be confused with Moulton's Market in Amherst.

Fuck you, Steve.

Guy named Steve used to own the place. I worked for him stocking the shelves, dish washing, garbage removal, cleaning of the chicken rotisserie machine, etc. when I was 16 and 17 years old. Never stole anything, was always on-time, kept everything clean, etc. I was a pretty good kid.

Then, during my high school's "Senior Project" week, I was so tired from studying, putting together my project and working that I sat down on a box in the cooler and fell asleep for 5 minutes. I woke up, laughed, and told my coworker what had happened.

He then proceeded to tell Steve behind my back.

Come the close of my shift that Steve walks up to me:

Steve: "So I hear you fell asleep in the cooler."

Me: "Oh, yeah, sorry about that. You can dock my pay of 5 minutes. Been a rough week."

Steve: "Do you see yourself working here in 5 years?"

Me: "...what?"

Steve: "Do you see yourself working here, at Moulton's, in 5 years?"

Me: "Uhhhhh...."

Steve: "Hm. Sounds like not. Okay, here's what we're going to do. Tomorrow (Friday) will be your last day, okay?"

Me: "Wait, what?"

Steve: "Yeah, you clearly don't want to be working here, so we'll just end your employment tomorrow."

The next day he had me clean out the grease traps under the sinks (hadn't been done in YEARS, or at least that's what it smelt like) using my gloved hands.

Found a job the next week at the Cider Mill (also in Amherst.) Much better place to work, IMO.

This is an awesome place to but fresh farm produce, fresh seafood, and all sorts of baked goods and prepared meals. It's a hidden gem in Moultenborough. Love going here.
