Oh boy are you going to have fun (jk). I moved to NH 4.5 years ago from VA.

Seasonal depression.

It freaking sucks but it affects a lot of NH folks. We recently got a dog and going on daily walks with her has really helped with that.

Also, NH is a purple state if that's what you're talking about when referring to "Florida craziness". THATS what makes NH great. Despite what New Hampshire subreddit may seem like, people are much more tolerant of each other despite political differences in real life here. I grew up in a very red district in VA and even though I'm conservative, I love that NH is much more welcoming in that sense. Also, if you're politically left leaning and want to be near people with similar views, I'd recommend staying near the cities because a lot of conservatives live out in the country or in small towns.

Also, be prepared for lots of snow. Driving sucks in the snow. And be prepared for loss of electricity. Get a generator. We have several black outs every year, mostly due to snow and ice. It gets cold if you don't have a generator.

Summers are lovely here! Lakes region is awesome to visit in the summer time! And the ice castles are dreamy in the winter time. The ocean is cooooold but I've heard it's tolerable come August.

Overall, NH is a lovely state! Lots of awesome things to do :)

Where in VA? I lived down there for 9 years before making the move back north. I’ve been in NH 9 years now.

Well then if it sucks, maybe you should go back?

"It freaking sucks" was referring to seasonal depression.

I'm assuming you didn't read much of my post if that's the assumption you made

We all get that. Deal with it & not complain?

Dude, what is your problem?

In this day and age, I'd expect talking about mental health would be pretty normal, but I guess not for you. If you need to open up about some feelings, there are plenty of subreddits, if you ever need it.

Seasonal depression does suck and this person from Florida should know what they are getting into because it affects a lot of people up here. Less sun=less vitamin d= feeling unhappy/miserable.

And I'm not even complaining. I'm stating fact. Not only that but I even wrote what had been helping me in order to try to offer up a remedy if this person ever needs it.

Ikr? It’s preference. The brutality of the sun last summer was far worse than anything winter can throw at me.
