When I lived in NH, mid ‘80s to mid ‘90s we had blackouts all year long, but it was because PSNH refused to cut trees off their right of ways, they blamed it on all the lawsuit money due to trying to open SeaBrook Station…duh

It’s eversource now, and they actually do a really good job clearing trees off lines these days.
