Free market works great if there is competition. New competitors need to be allowed to build and the subsidies should be given to the new guys.

Ever hear of joint owned poles? Multiple owners and all are responsible for maintenance on the poles they share.

Or government-owned poles would work as well and they regulate it that way. As far as I know, most poles are on public property anyways. So how is this even happening?

NH politics has long been in favor of single suppliers. Selling it as better than the alternative, saddling the cost of investing and adding more suppliers...Even internet which is much easier than electric to add to existing poles. We in southern NH have just started getting real alternatives to Comcast internet.

It's all politics, they're in bed with the big guys.
