The main thing I remember was that because the perpetrator hit people in the head from >1000 feet he must have been a highly trained sniper, probably military. As if you could fire over 1000 shots into a crowd at any distance and not hit people in the head.

I didn't get into an argument about it because I was halfway through a haircut and didn't want to have to get up an leave halfway through, but it was a pretty stupid take and I think he was doing mental gymnastics to steer the conversation toward anything other than "how's it working out to let every nutjob buy 20+ rifles?"

You know the deal, it's too soon, stop trying to take advantage of a tragedy to try and do anything about our gun problem, meanwhile it'll always be too soon to talk about mass shootings because there will always have been one last month.

Edit to add: the standing around with a shotgun about COVID shutdowns didn't surprise me too much. Bummer though because it was a convenient location for where I was living at the time.

Edit 2: on second thought I think the shotgun posing was an Instagram post, separate from the protest that other people have mentioned
