Botswanas and Big Bad Johns back in the day. Murdervan. George Baker in his prime, and, for sheer musicianship, Rohn Lawrence with Jay Rowe back when they did Tuesday nights at the old Rudy's on Elm Street. I'll back up whoever mentioned Pencilgrass, too.

Darik and the Funbags had huge, lively shows back in the day. They were a super high energy cover band. Chris Michaels was the lead singer and was an amazing front man. He and Darik had a falling out and now he's got some other band.

this is the right answer imo! mountain movers are the best currently active new haven rock band.

the best new haven band of all-time is miracle legion. ovlov is a good answer, but i don't really consider them to be a new haven band.
