Welcome to New Haven!

I think you should get help from a realtor. Two thumbs up for Seabury Hill Realtors, I’ve worked with Jenn D’Amato, but I know others have had good experiences with the other members of that team. The landlord pays the fee, so there’s no extra cost for you.

We also moved here from out of state and had to find an apartment in a weekend visit. Jenn made the process so easy, it was a lifesaver.

I’m a landlord and I’ve posted my apartments on the Yale site with no luck. I’ve posted on Zillow, Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, and my current tenant I found via FB. I sometimes see people posting on Nextdoor- if you can set it to see New Haven listings? Not sure if that’s possible…

I can try Facebook. Is there a specific group that’s usually active? Thanks for responding!

Just quit my RN job at Yale in September lol, but I moved here from out of state and still reside in the same apartment. I’m in Hamden. Everything is conveniently located and my drive to work was 7 minutes.

My husband and I just secured a rental home through Zillow after several ignored direct emails to apartment complexes and messages through apartments.com. The only other site that got us some conversation was through Trulia

seems to be a lot of useful help in the comments but no warnings!!

avoid Mandy Management, Pike management at ALL. COST !!! there’s a third company I can’t remember right now, but they’re posted on this thread elsewhere. just……. beware.

Ooo I heard about this! Do they usually run apartment complexes or individual apartments? And will it be obvious that they are managing it in the listing or do I need their websites up and cross-reference each listing I see?

it’ll be blatantly obvious. they love to mark their properties & will tell you along the way and even on the fb posts they have their name up. at worst, you’ll see it on any documents they try to send your way. they manage all types of properties from solo houses to apartment complexes.

Just use internet "street" smarts to weed out the scams. Don't give anyone money or personal info up front for anything and you should be good. If anyone asks for money or personal info before you tour the apartment, don't trust em (not sure your experience on this so just stating it just in case)

Welcome! Just a heads up, no one says The before YNHH. It's Yale* or the hospital, since technically theres only 1 in New Haven now. Then you can go into details re which campus, which building.

See also our highways: just 95, 91, etc. The only The that's allowed is re: The Merritt or The Parkway (which are the same thing lol).

*yes just like the university but local context will fill in the blanks...very rarely have to ask "do you mean hospital or school?"
