Hello! I wanted to ask if any of you parents with kids in school have any suggestions for school transportation besides the buses? I’m starting a remote work position and can’t leave to get my son from school with the hours I’ll be working. The bus isn’t an option because they leave him wayyy down the street which I would still have to come out to and wait for more than 15 mins. He’s also too young to walk alone specially in our area. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Call and complain with the school, tell them he needs to be dropped off at your front door.

I tried that. Basically he has to have some type of disability for them to do that. At least that’s what they said.

Is there another family on your street who will be walking for pick up too? Maybe you can trade off supervising a handful of kids?

Good idea… but no :( I have nobody! No family, no friends.

Most schools nowadays have a FB page where you can network with other parents and see if someone is willing to help. Aren't there other kids getting on/off at same bus stop? Maybe an older kid would be willing to walk him to your door for you. Making friends in your neighborhood is essential as a parent lol. Maybe even an older, retired lady would love to help out.

I live in the hillside of New Haven, I don’t trust a soul around here much less with my kids!! Lol but thanks for the idea, I will look into a fb group and see what I find… I like the older kid idea too, and he actually has older cousins that take the bus, I’m gonna talk to them as well. I started the job Monday and so far I’ve been able to work this out myself but after training I’ll definitely need the transportation for him.
