I (27M) am visiting New Haven later this week for a job visit/interview and will have ample time to explore around town and the surroundings for a couple days while I'm there. Any suggestions for places to check out for someone who's outdoorsy, keen for a decent beer, hoping to live alone but still wanting to be around the young professional vibe. A couple recs I've gotten are Edgerton Park, Stony Creek Brewing, and the Yale Farm, all of which sound up my alley. I'm not limited to just within the city and have a little bit of a range I could cover. Anything crucial I'm missing? Cheers.

The view of the city from the top of East Rock is a really cool sight to take in!

Stony Creek is a cool place but it can be kind of a rowdy bar crowd depending on when you go, and the beer isn’t great.

East Rock Brewing is a nice spot and they brew almost exclusively lagers. You can get yourself any pizza or other food and bring it in to eat there, which is also nice.

Counterweight Brewing is a little bit of a drive away but their beer is excellent and their taproom is nice. They usually have a food truck outside, the best of which in my opinion is Smetana on Wednesdays.

If you want to hike, East Rock has some trails through the woods including giant steps which takes you to the top. If you aren’t going to go fully outdoorsy in this trip, you can still walk to the top of East Rock because the roads to the summit are closed to cars except for Sundays.

It can also be nice just to walk around downtown to see some of the Yale architecture. You can start by the law school and walk inwards through old campus.

I’d you’re looking for food at night, Tavern on State is a great choice. I also love Sherkaan and NOA right now. The city does have a really excellent food scene.

Hope your interview goes well! We’d love to have you here.

Mmm yeah I don't have time to go full outdoorsy now but the ability to get out and do so weighs a lot on the decision to move there or not. A chilled walk like that might be the move for the week. Thanks for the tips

Contact the yale farm. They have volunteer days. Maybe when you are there will be one of those days? I used to volunteer there till i moved away.

Bar makes its own beer and has great pizza. Its on crown st.

I know you said breweries - but chamard vineyard in clinton and goveia winery in wallingford are worth dropping by.

The breweries in stony creek are good.

Yes - the view from east rock is great.

Check out hammonasset beach.

Check out the bike trails in ct that go along the former trolley lines. Go running along them or find a bike to rent. They go for miles way up north.

Grab lunch to-go from East Rock Market food hall, then climb the Giant Steps up to East Rock summit, then hike a trail down to East Rock Brewery for that beer. That’s basically a loop and the brewery now has a corn-hole-type game section indoors.
