Yale is escapable but it's hard. I'm a 22F lesbian and yeah, the gay scene is definitely sizeable enough to find friends in! In terms of outdoorsy stuff, there's a lot of super nice trails within driving distance of New Haven. A lot a lot in the Wallingford/Meriden area.
