Does anybody know of a public pool or private pool open to the public for a fee? I’m trying to start swimming again

New to the area

New Haven Parks & Rec hosts free open swim at Hillhouse HS Wednesdays 5-8PM & Saturday 10-2PM. They’ll typically have 1-2 lanes for lap swimmers.

Summertime there are typically 3-5 pools (Hillhouse, Cross, Conte, Martinez, Career) open to the public, same deal but open M-S.

Source: me. was a guard for many years & teach w them on certain days. Come by and say hi!

I was going to post about the public schools. Several have pools. Conte West Hills and Career High both had open swim a few years back, maybe worth checking if these are closer to you. I would call the number below and ask which schools offer swimming and how you can get a schedule. They don't advertise widely.

Just an FYI - the hours I posted above are recent & accurate. I work directly with P&R throughout the winter, so that’s all that’s available atm

Try New Haven Parks & Rec. Some schools have pools and they have public swim times. You can also check with the YMCA. They have a pool on Howe.

Not sure if you have access to a car but The ymca in Branford also has pools. A warm and cold competitive pool. I love it!
