I'm looking to go to a concert on a Tuesday night in New Haven. I live in the Boston area but wanted to come visit the town for a day. I was planning on taking the Northeast Regional down early in the day, but didn't realize that the last train back on a weeknight is before 9. It doesn't look like any of the Peter Pan/Greyhound buses run after 8 or so. Is there a way to get back without a car that I'm overlooking or should I just plan on renting one? Thanks!!

Check Megabus, too, they just added additional NHV trips to BOS and NYC.

Amtrak leaves New Haven at 10:45pm.

Wanderu.com is great for searching trains and busses.

Yeah - i think you’ll have to rent a car unless you want to spend the night and take the train back in the am.

If you Have to get back to Boston before sunrise and need to avoid renting a car you Could do the counter intuitive train to NYC and backtrack with a late night bus NY to BOS.

Carpool or stay at a hotel. They should be reasonably priced on a weekday if there aren’t any big Yale events happening.

You could take the CT Rail commuter rail train to Hartford and then take an Uber to Boston for maybe $150. The last trains run very late. Or just take an Uber from New Haven since it might not be a huge price difference for you if you're already spending that much.
