Hello all,

I’m in the market for a used car, preferably under $10k. Any advice on dealers to avoid or recommendations in the area appreciated!

Avoid Carmax. If you do go there get full history. Water damaged cars are a thing....

Chip’s (a friend knows owner) and Superior Motors (good reviews) in Milford would be good places to start.

I had a very good experience with Star Auto Sales in Meriden in 2017. Still have the car, no major issues. Most of their cars start around $12k. I paid cash, so no opinion on their financing options.

I can’t comment for all used dealers, but I found that the dealership has a “partner” set up in Danbury, the car turned out to be a lemon every time.

I bought from Wilson Maturo Motors last year and I LOVED working with them. I go to them for all oil changes and repairs too, they’re fantastic. They don’t pressure you at all and answered all of my questions.

I like a best way auto in a Naugatuck. They buy cars from the auctions and resell them at the lowest possible price. No frills...no fuss...

You can get a functioning vehicle from them. Just know what you want first. It's a madhouse in there.

They will give you the hard sell on the warranty. Say No.

They will give you the hard sell on "VIN Etching" for an additional fee. Even telling you that they did it to all the cars already (lies). Say no.
