you can order ahead and just pick up your order it's super easy. there's a limit on how much you can buy at a time so people will walk in pick up, go back outside put it in their car and go back inside for more. you also don't have to pre-order now they have people who can help you find or decide anything you're looking for and they're all really great and friendly. they'll ask when you get there if it's medical or recreational and direct you where to go. just have an ID and you're good to go

Awesome, sounds pretty similar to medical. Thank you ✌🏽

Do they scan your ID? Or just look at it?

From a privacy perspective I don't want my name ending up in some national database

Yeah dude I have a gun license and a pot card, I’m a stock broker, real estate agent, & mortgage banker. I’m in every database there is who gives a shit. They know I make more money, am armed to the teeth and high as fuck

flying_unicorn t1_j516vby wrote

Lol, that's one of my concerns. A buddy of mine had to give up his gun license when he got his medical card.

Formal_Complex_5328 t1_j51aiut wrote

What State? I have lived in CA & CT renewing both. As in I had my pot card when I renewed my gun license and I had my gun license when I renewed my pot card. While you may wind up on two agency lists, it would be a HIPPA violation to do anything with that medical list…like combine it with a gun permit list

GeneralConcentrate88 t1_j51hbgz wrote

I was under the assumption that to have a gun license, one needs to attest to not using any federally illegal substances. I would love to own a gun, but I'm a drop dead stoner lol

1

Formal_Complex_5328 t1_j52mxf6 wrote

Oh yeah, that part about the attestation is true. But let’s interpret that. If I did cocaine 10 years ago how should I answer that question? Should I answer it with my intent?

Formal_Complex_5328 t1_j5f5t5a wrote

So I just bought a gun and here is the question it asks. Are you an unlawful user!!!! Then qualifies by saying it’s still federally unlawful. So very confusing indeed

Yeah wouldn't want your GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID to be in some GOVERNMENT DATABASE

Right now I am not in a database of pot smokers. I'd like to keep it that way.

The information is technically "private" but yes they absolutely keep records. There are limits on how much you can get per day they have to know who's coming and going and how much/what they're getting. It might not be an accessible national database but you absolutely are in the system

Went to Affinity. Ordered online, picked up an hour later. In and out in 10 minutes.

Worst part of it was having to drive down Whalley Ave.

newmoon23 t1_j4xfknu wrote

Affinity is requiring you to order online before pick up, but you can literally do it in the line and it’s fine. Last week they were having an issue with their system where it was clearing out all orders at the end of the night so any orders placed for next day pickup got deleted. But I just reordered right there and got my order.

It was very fast. Some of the windows are medical only and some are rec only. But other than which window you pick up from, the experience seems to be the same for both kinds of customers there.

Not anymore you can just walk in and go to a person and they'll help you with options and figuring out what you want. I did it for the first time and it wasn't slow but ordering online is definitely faster

newmoon23 t1_j4zo65b wrote

That’s good to know. I expected the pick-up only thing to last at least the first few weeks.

I like to order online anyway. I can look up the strains and figure out what I want without pressure.

Testy_MacTestry t1_j4y18tt wrote

Frankly, I found it expensive and a hassle.

I'd rather patronize my local dealer.

thepianoman456 t1_j529bme wrote

Yea I saw some process… like $50 1/8s???

Do their online prices include taxes?

3

Testy_MacTestry t1_j55drd6 wrote

The store I went to had the price, plus tax, plus a debit card fee that they said would be returned to me in cash after purchase. I just wanted a 5 pack of short joints and it was 40 bucks. My debit card was actually expired, so I ended up leaving empty handed after waiting in line for a bit. That ones on me, 100%.

I just cant get over the polished Apple store vibe of these shops. It went from being a gateway drug for stinky losers, to a medicinal herbal product that promises all sorts of stuff. I also don't really buy the stories they sell with the strains, I've smoked all sorts of bud and honestly, I don't see a difference between strains.

I am more than happy to call my plug, pick up at the spot, and toss him the cash in venmo. I honestly feel like I'm supporting a local craft dude at the farmers market more than stuffing cash into some rich guys business, plus he usually tosses me an extra gram or two.

I dont want to buy boutique week, I want the freedom to grow a few plants on my deck in the summer. I did it last year and it was super easy and really kinda fun, I didnt expect much from some bag seeds, sun, and some tomato ferts but I was happily surprised!

I live in East Haven (5 minutes from N.H) I’ve never bought recreational cannabis or been to a dispensary. I really want to buy some gummies. What store do you recommend that’s easy to buy from? (non medical)

Trystiane t1_j4ysqih wrote

Definitely try Affinity Health and Wellness.

Have your ID.

I rather go to the Bazaar in Hamden, feels more comfortable and I trust their vendors.

6th__extinction OP t1_j52p82c wrote

Is that back up and running? I attended until they got shut down for good.

1

MaiaFiya t1_j5ljf1m wrote

Yes, they are running with permits all week (pretty much same hosts/vendors). Friday's (5-9pm) are fun, every week is different theme. So far it was Alice in Wonderland, last week was Great Gatsby and this week is Willy Wonka. Sunday is my favorite day to go (1-5pm), more chill vibe, lots of people go.

If it wasn't medically focused, takes the fun out of it if you have to be sick...most of us arent.

The payment is “cashless ATM” so you need a debit card, not a credit card. The ATM charges your bank fees for the purchase, so in keeping with tradition ca$h money is best option to pay.
