Free however they will take money from your c.f. in advance based on your typical tolls, $25 and up. Also it makes it easy to not notice how expensive tolls are...

If you are not going to frequently use the discounts of the nj ezpass, you might be better off getting an ezpass from an another state. One time price, reoccurring fees, and discounts are all different between ezpass states.

I’d only there was some site where you could search how much an EZ-Pass costs monthly.

What discounts do you typically get? I have one from PA from the time when I stayed there, no fees as such, but I do go into NYC may be a total of 10-15 times a year, will the discount be worth it?

If you live near certain zones like the delaware river gap, or atlantic city etc, or if you commute frequently through a toll road are some examples.

Here’s NJ’s discounts. If you dont see yourself eligible for these, you’re probably better off with the PA one you currently have.

NJ charges based on usage. Best bet is to link it to a credit card not your bank account because if you use it more over a couple of months, your charge will increase. For such instances, a credit card is the better choice. Plus if you pay that bill before it’s due, you’ve successfully driven around for a month without paying tolls.

Guys… you can avoid auto pay on EZPass by using the one time payment option. Please stop allowing EZPass to automatically deduct from your card.

My opinion is the NY Throughway is the best to get. No fees and only NY EZ Passes get discounts at all MTA bridges.
