Has Anyone Ever Won Jersey Cash 5 Jackpot Lottery?

Any lucky winners here for Jersey Cash 5? Do many of you here play it? I actually love playing Cash 5 sometimes but have never hit it big. Just a few bucks here and there. All under $20. I usually get just 2 or 3 numbers correct. One thing I love about Cash 5 is how the same numbers appear back to back quite a lot. I just wish Cash 5 didn’t go all the way up to 45. In other states their Cash 5 game (Fantasy 5 for example) goes up to just number 39. In a few other states as North Carolina and Pennsylvania it goes up to 43. New Jersey is the only state where Cash 5 goes all the way to 45. But anyway, one thing about number 45 is that it pops up much a lot. 45, 17 and 28.

It’s just a tax for people who don’t understand math and probabilities.

I play the lottery because it allows me to daydream about a better life but no way do I think I’d win a jackpot

The odds on Cash 5 Jackpot are 1 : 1,221,759. The jackpot can climb over a million a few times a year, so as Lotteries go, it's not a terrible game to play for fun every now and then.

Imagine being in a field with 1,000,000 people. And I said “everyone give me a dollar and one of you may win $1M”. Sounds like a deal because “someone’s gotta win it, could be me!” But then I said “there’s also a better chance that nobody wins. Then you have to give me another dollar, but instead of $2M for $2, it’s going to be $1.3M. Also, good chance nobody wins that either”.

If there was a one in a million chance of dying in a plane crash, you’d feel safe that you aren’t going to crash. But if the outcome of that 1 in a million is in your favor, your perception changes.

I agree that having a lottery ticket allows you to dream of a better life. If the drawing is every day, your feel good dream lasts 24hrs until the results come out and then your dream dies. So I’d rather play power ball or mega millions because that ticket allows me to dream for a few days until the drawing

I’ll play on occasion for entertainment purposes only. Most of that entertainment comes from pipe dreams- especially if it’s like the billion lotto we had a few months ago.

If I buy scratch offs- I check to see how many outstanding prizes are available so I can pick a game that still has winners.

Over the decades NJ Lottery pick 5 and pick 6 have increased the number of balls to decrease the odds of winning under the guise of people wanting bigger jackpots. In the 80’s I used to win often. Around the 90’s and 00’s I never won anything so I stopped playing. The pick used to have 36 numbers. You probably have better odds gambling in a casino.

Yeah, Blackjack and Craps played correctly have a very small house advantage, like 2%. Slots are probably the same as lottery, with everything else at the casino in-between somewhere.

You're right, just checked, NJ Law is 83% payout vs. 50% for lottery.

Yes, hit 4 numbers 5-6x, never 5. I have been playing the same numbers for years, but the last two years - ice cold. Maybe share them will help 6-7-26-28-31. If over $1M, I will do 5 QP.

My dad win the Cash 5 in 2007. Hit all five numbers ($70k in winnings). He played a specific set of numbers constantly and one sequence hit.

However, if you add up all the money he has spent playing the lottery over 30 years, he pretty much broke even.

Its my favorite to play. Will throw $5 or $10 here and there if over $500K..maybe more if closer to one million.

Pick 6 doesn't grow fast enough, the multi-state jackpots are not for me.

I am guessing the research suggest most players chase larger jackpots but the odds are crazy high. One million would be life changing to 95% of the country. Five million 99%.

When my family had a place with a lottery terminal, we had quite a few hits on the Cash5.

One guy won it at least twice over the course of a year or so.

You have to realize though that they people winning are typically blowing an equal amount per year on tickets.
