My best friend is looking for a location (non-religious) for mid October for a very small/intimate wedding ceremony inline with a sunroom/indoor garden feel. Had her heart set on the Sunroom @ Thompson Park but the lady she spoke with is giving her such a hard time for a plethora of reasons.

Wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where else we can try. Not necessarily bound to central NJ but would love to stay relatively close.

I had a super small wedding at Colonial Park Franklin Township at the Gazebo. small fee of like $75-$100. We had it for lunch 3 hours, Park Ranger kept people back and people who weren’t invited were super respectful. We setup a few chairs… nothing fancy but it was perfect. We took pictures afterwards, lunch in Somerville and massive BBQ at the in-laws. Super chill relaxed day.

Could see what options Grounds for Sculpture might have for a tiny wedding. Thinking about the shore, Cape May has tons of options. Saw a lovely beach wedding (we were sitting nearby) of about 2 dozen guests hosted by the Peter Shields Inn last summer. And Washington Crossing Park on the Delaware comes to mind, either Jersey or PA side.

If u guys wanna venture to the shore side. For i think $50 you can get a permit for the gazebo in Belmar right by the beach. The “reception” can be hosted at any restaurant nearby. Same goes for the gazebo in spring lake park (if you want something less beachy and more woodsy). Also check out deep cut gardens in Middletown

Deep cut was my first suggestion but that was a place her and her shitty ex used to frequent so it was a hard pass for her 😢

Not sure how much effort they may want to put but check out the herbary at bear creek in howell. It’s woodsy and a sit down dinner can be held in the greenhouse. They will need a caterer

Yes!!!! Ceremony can be held in their woods or outdoors space. They give you the option to do outdoor tents too if your party is too big to fit I’m the greenhouse. Think farmhouse table style sitting

We attended a small Wedding on Cape May’s beach at sunset. It was one of most romantic ceremonies I’ve attended.

FYI, There are no restrictions for ceremonies on the beaches and bay at Sunset Beach or the Ferry Area. Insurance for the day is not required. Beach receptions and alcohol are not permitted. Ocean City requires that couples apply for a Beach Wedding Permit by calling Cathy Caraballo at (609) 525- 9296.

We just got married last weekend at pier C park in Hoboken. We had a very small wedding and are in central jersey, it was about a 45 minute drive. We took our pics with NYC skyline in the background and it was everything we would’ve wanted it to be.

My wife and I got married with a very small and non-religious ceremony at the Frog and the Peach in New Brunswick and it was really nice (and great food, of course). Not super cheap, but we felt it was worth it, especially given how much medium to large weddings cost. It was in their bright greenhouse-ish room, which might fit the bill even if it isn't exactly gardeny. Worth a look at least.
