Update: Georgie has been reunited with his people!

Found this guy a few days ago wandering around my neighborhood, and he's not one the usual outdoor roamers. He's a chonker, and definitely food motivated. He's also severely lacking in outdoor skills. I became concerned about him when I noticed him sitting in the middle of the street. It was very easy to lure him over with some treats.

We took him to a nearby clinic in hopes of finding the owner, but he isn't chipped. If you, or someone you know is missing this majestic beast, please DM me. I'd love to see him returned home.

He's a very handsome boy. This photo doesn't do him justice, but it was difficult to snap a shot without him trotting over to give me rubs.

Cats donโ€™t go far. If you put a few signs around the neighborhood someone will probably call

Have you called all the local animal hospitals and your municipal animal shelter and let them know about the cat, in case the missing owner calls around? Does your town have a Facebook group or page where the locals can post 'news'?

Hopefully this is simply a pet who got lost, who needs to be reunited with his people, and not an abandoned animal.

He's at a local shelter now, via animal control. Talking to the shelter today they're saying that he's being pretty shy around them -- unfortunate. I've revived my Nextdoor acct to post him there.

The fact that he's unchipped and significantly overweight makes me a little sad for his situation. It's irresponsible ownership, but I'm hopeful that he's just lost and not abandoned.

On the bright side, if no one claims him and his intake exam doesn't show anything incompatible, my orange tabby could get a brother.

The sitting in the road thing, my wife's cat did that when she first went away to college. Luckily it was in front of their house and her mom got her before anything happened. Vet said she was probably depressed. She became an indoor only cat that day. Hopefully this gorgeous fellow isn't abandoned but that's not normal behavior.
