Live in central jersey but willing to travel to appease my recent sushi cravings. I've been to a few omakase places in the city and I realize it might be hard to find sushi of that level in NJ, but trying to get as close to it as possible. Looking for authentic, likely japanese owned. Not that I mind the chinese/korean owned ones but sometimes I'm not in the mood for them. To clarify, if anywhere on the menu there is a section with a couple rolls called "insert town name roll" or "crazy dragon roll" or "pink lady dragon" etc, I am NOT looking for those right now.

Thanks in advance!

Ai sushi in Somerville is as authentic as it gets in central NJ.
As for your last point, this is pulled right from their website:
>If you are into more run-of-the-mill Americanized sushi rolls like the quantity over quality of that of all-you-can-eat buffets, this might not be the place for you. For example, cooked rolls like tempura rolls, vegetable rolls, California rolls, Philadelphia rolls, for example.
