A lot of it is jet fuel honestly that’s a heavy smell. There are a few plants out there that do burn off certain chemicals to help produce certain gases. I worked for a few in the area. The levels are to low especially in your car to have any short of negative effect. They monitor the air all the time and if their is certain levels they have to shut down but never reach the levels.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to look into the monitoring you mentioned. I am a bit concerned about the people that are living and working in the area.

So they monitor VOCs you can get a monitor if you want but if your car doesn’t have hipa filters in it and you don’t open your windows you will get a reading no matter what. You need special testing tubes called dragers to determine the real chemical that’s being pulled. It’s really not worth your time. My job was to monitor the air levels at several projects for some environmental jobs the levels are not sustainable. So any actions we can take to mitigate usually happen within seconds because it’s all open air. Just change your in air cabin filter to a hippa filter. Environmentalist within the EPA and state/local government have these reading monitored to..
