Honestly planet fitness gets so much hate and I don’t know why- they have gyms everywhere and for $22 a month you can use any of them, bring a guest with you any time you want and use the tanning beds or massage table, among other perks. They’re all well appointed and clean and have all the equipment you could want and the app will tell you how full it is before you go.

All the equipment you want? Did they finally get dumb bells over 65 lbs?

For the average person… honestly if you need more, then you need a more specialized gym. I’m not training to be Dwayne Johnson’s understudy and I only do my 90 minute cross fit circuit three times a week so please forgive my lack of swole and not living up to your standards of following the whey in a total gym bro lifestyle.

You don't have to be a body builder to want heavy weights. Strength training is very important for older adults too.

I am 50+ just trying to remain functional for activities like snowboarding and mtn biking so I go to gym which has plenty of Power Racks for Squats and deadlifts.

OP didn't mention any specific priorities so I am not sure why you assumed your needs were typical.

It’s so funny to find people that are so dead set against planet fitness. How about you stay at your gym and I’ll stay at mine. Namaste

You may have confused me with another poster. I didn't offer any opinion on PF, I've never been there. I replied to your statement that anyone who wants heavier weights must be a "swole" "gym bro". That's not true and its a dangerous myth because resistance training is important, especially as we age.

I agree that training is important especially as we age- and really why I go and applaud anyone else who does. Further to clarify and justify, I think that anyone who needs large quantities of heavy weights (+65lbs dumbbells) would need more than the average accommodation required for most routine training. The person I was replying to was hating on PF because they don’t have heavy enough weights - I was calling them out because of their attitude not because they were prioritizing their health. Thanks for being pedantic

Idk about clean the one by me smells like absolute shit due to the people who go there not showering and having zero gym etiquette. Also it gets so damn crowded constantly waiting on everything gets annoying. Any small local gym (few and far in between now a days) are your best bet but again their prices might scare you away

They are a franchise and some of them are more crowded than others so actual mileage varies from location to location- I used to go to the one in pompton and it was a lot like that but Hanover and Morris plains are much cleaner

They have sales once in awhile to join. I also suggest planet fitness you can go to anyone for 20$ a month ain’t bad… a gym is a gym it gets busy at the same times most gyms get busy and it has everything you need to be successful in fitness,
