Mr. Taylor Ham and Mssr. Pork Roll are the finest gentlemen in the land and don't let anyone ever tell you different.

This is the dumbest argument because the issue isn’t the word “Taylor”, it’s the word “Ham” which it cannot legally be called.

It is called Pork Roll, and if it is the brand Taylor it is Taylor Pork Roll.

Calling it Taylor Ham is objectively incorrect.

Also, I call them tissues.

The OG name is Taylor Ham. It had to be changed after 50 frickin years because the gub'ment came in and said it's no longer considered ham. It got renamed and the whole world (of NJ) was allowed to make whatever pig rubbish they wanted, pack it into a canvas sack and sell it as... blegh... pork roll.

"Ooh.. look at me. I never use colloquial or 'nick' names. Don't have Band-aids? Then give me an adhesive bandage, or whatever is on the fucking box. I'd love to tell you that my wallet has a Velcro enclosure, but I don't know if it was licensed by 3M... yes, quite."

That's you. That's what you sound like.

You talking about Taylor brand Pork Roll? Get it right.

JudyLyonz t1_ixwivef wrote

That's backwards. Pork roll is the name of the product, Taylor Ham is a brand of pork roll. Hence, Taylor Ham is the nickname.

More like your actual ex who tried to reinvent herself for her new boyfriend. Changed how she looked, calls herself by her middle name. But you got that late night phone call, head over for some drunken nookie and boom. Same old Taylor's Ham.

It says band-aid on the box of that brand. The word Ham does not appear on any pork roll packaging. Why is this so hard to understand? Adhesive bandages of all brands are basically the same thing so people call them all band-aids, same with kleenex & tissues. Pork roll is a processed meat, ham is a specific cut of a pig. Calling pork roll ham is the same thing as calling bologna ham. It doesn’t make sense. You wouldn’t call a gauze pad a band-aid & you wouldn’t call a paper towel a tissue.

How about linking to one that I can buy today like I linked to? Surely no problem, right?

Also what do you think whoosh means out of curiosity?? Do you think it's a cure-all for losing an argument?

Calling pork roll Taylor ham is like calling American cheese kraft

Callous_Mat t1_ixwzbsv wrote

The entire point that was being made, you pork eating mook, is that people use colloquial terms for common use items everyday. Not every roll of bubble wrap is Bubble Wrap. Need a Dumpster? Can't. They're not called that anymore, the trademark ran out... I seriously doubt when you have a small scrape you go, "Ree! Mommy! Get me an adhesive bandage! IT'S WHAT'S ON THE FUCKING BOX!"

The fact that Taylor Ham had to be changed because some beaurocratic bullshit is ridiculous, the product remains unchanged. Whatever you and your overlords decide to put "on the fucking box," it's Taylor Ham.

Yeah, man. Like, 116 years ago it had it's rapper name and now it's real name is finally allowed to shine. I really need to let that go. Whew. Thanks random internet guy. I can finally move on. You must like Will Smith a lot now he's not the Fresh Prince.

No, the government said, "We've changed what this is, now you can't call it what we say it's not." Man had a product and a name brand. US government steps in and fucks with man's livelihood.

Calling them discs just made me think of some kind of Jersey Tron setting, where combatants have to throw these little Taylor Pork Discs at each other until one of them dies.

Ham is a specific cut of pork, taken from a pig. If inclined, you can take any ham and point to exactly where it came from. The best you can do with pork roll is gesture vaguely towards the pens. Man called it "prepared ham" to try and be a weasel and got called out because it's not ham. And now a hundred plus years later people are still simping for the poor poor businessman that couldn't just lie to everyone for profit without the big bad gubmint stepping in.

Cry me a river.

C'mon guys we all know "Taylor Ham" is what you call it when you make it nicely with perfectly even slices in the morning, and cut it in the middlle so it doesn't pucker up.

It is "Pork Roll" when you say "ef it" ... and slice it to a questionable thickness, fry the living shit out of it so it's almost bacon, and put some good old american cheese (ONLY American cheese), a fried egg and toss it all on whatever bagel you have.

I'm originally from Philly so it's "Pork Roll" for me...
