Two from the past that I miss:
The big Christmas candle wreath thing they used to put on the old Giants Stadium.
They used to put a big "Season's Greetings" light up display in Secuacus at Harmon Meadow Plaza, near where the old Lowes Plaza 6 movie theaer was. It was pretty big and could be easily seen from Route 3.

One that still happens is when the Fortunoff in Paramus on Route 17 puts all the Christmas trees in their windows.

I haven't lived in Highlands since 2004, but I always loved how Twin Lights had a lit tree in one tower.

The telephone-pole decorations on Boulevard in Kenilworth. You know the ones—candy canes and snowflakes attached up at the top of the pole. A lot more towns used to do them, but as the years went on, more and more stopped. Kenilworth kept putting them up, though. They’re so small-town charming!

I always liked when they put the presents on top of the Lily Tulip cup in Holmdel (now a strip mall).

I still like the decorated earth moving equipment in front of Foley In Piscataway.

The old Apollo Flags (and cards) in the Channel Lumber Plaza in Totowa would put one GIANT light-up decoration that you would walk through to get into the store. It used to be a snowman and then it was a Christmas Tree I think. It spanned the whole front of the store and you would walk through it to get into the store.

Now that I think about it, I can't remember if the Harmon Meadow lights said "Season's Greetings" or "Peace on Earth".
