We are moving to Lyndhurst NJ with a 2 year old. Being new to Northern NJ we have lots of questions. How is the town in terms of safety, school district? Are there lots of events for family? Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

Definitely safe. There's a lot of stuff in the area for sure. I can't speak on the quality of their schools though.

The schools are ok, but the new middle school building itself is a really great building. Nice fields and an amazing view.

it’s a decent town in my opinion. lots of towns in southern bergen county get a bad reputation but aren’t too bad. i preferred my kids school in southern BC over the one they went to when we moved to northern BC. in my opinion, the blue collar town school was run much better.

My wife was living there when we first met. We lived there for 3 years. It’s a nice town the only reason we didn’t buy there was because it was pretty expensive back in 2004.

The town is nice as it is your typical suburban town. There are a bunch of playgrounds that were just remodeled. Not to mention you have two county parks and the Meadowlands park.
Safety wise, it is fine, just lock your car doors. Schools are meh from what I heard. You will be in Bergen county so there is an opportunity for your child to attend Bergen Academy (high school) which offers a lot of advanced studies.
Lots of food and shopping options, just note all retail is closed on Sunday (restaurants/grocery open). However, since you are the bottom of Bergen you have Hudson/Passaic counties next to you and they are fully open.
