For context as to why I’m asking. I was at a red light in the right hand lane. Light turned green and I started driving forward when I see the person in the left lane put their blinker on and immediately start merging in front of me to avoid the person making a left in front of her. I was moving, it wasn’t like the light had just turned green. So I blew my horn and kept going not letting her merge. And she got mad because I didn’t let her merge.

You had the option to yield your right of way. You decided against it. That's your right...and you might still be a jerk for how you insisted on it. We weren't there and we'll never know...

Ask yourself, why not let her merge? Look at how it's eating at you to the point that you seek out our approval here when all you had to do was ease up, give another human a break and that would've been that.

And you definitely would've had our approval of that.

I didn’t yield because my front bumper was past her back door when she started moving over and then she was a jerk about me blowing my horn like “hey I’m currently young the space your trying to occupy”. Plus I had a line of 15 cars behind me, she had no one behind her.

It depends what's more important to you:

  • being technically correct
  • OR being a decent considerate human being

There were 15 cars behind me that I would be holding up by letting her in and none of them let her in either. She could have chosen the right lane earlier on but decided to get in the left only and then cut in to skip the line of cars.
