Maybe Howell. There are development style neighborhoods, but also plenty of homes along the many “back roads” with a rural feel, decent property size, woods all around. Excellent schools. Still plenty of shopping and commerce minutes away along Rt. 9.

Allamuchy Twp, Washington Twp, Mansfield, some parts of Hackettstown are good, LOTS of privacy, QUIET, and you get bang for the buck in terms of square footage. If you want more rural, go Allamuchy. If you want more convenience, go to Mansfield, where there are walmarts and mini malls. It's all within 20 minutes of each other. Hackettstown is in between and has a nice main street with lots of mom and pops and restaurants. Drive to Manhattan can be possible within hour and 15 minutes if you get on route 80 before 6am or go on Sundays.

Next option is Monmouth county such as Marlboro and Morganville. But PRICIER. still less than Bergen and Morris county tho.
