Many towns and most cities are both good and bad. It's an impossible question to answer

I agree I live in a certain town that has out of towners come and steal cars from driveways.

Well, definitely keep away from:

  1. Lakewood
  2. Camden (city)
  3. Paterson
  4. Basically anywhere in Cumberland

How about any of the literally hundreds of similar posts here the past year or so? Or the dozen+ just in the past week?

If you filter your search to low scores on schools I would assume most “bad” towns will be the lowest scored bc when looking for the “best” towns they usually have the best schools

From my own experience…

Camden, Newark, New Brunswick, Trenton, Atlantic City, Pleasantville, and Absecon.

I wouldn’t walk around at night if I were you. I have been approached by drug dealers, drug addicts, pimps, drunks, thugs, homeless, carjackers, robbers and pickpockets.

Yes, carjackers, robbers, and pickpockets.

Thank you for the replies this has been incredibly helpful. I was kind of overwhelmed looking at all the different places online but when I exclude towns/cities that have been mentioned I have come to the conclusion that I will probably be looking for somewhere to live that is not NJ or atleast finding a roommate or two.
