I never understood the whole hanging out at the mall thing. As kids, we would hang at the playground where it was totally fine for you to fuck around with each other.

Not sure about now but back in the mid 90s Cherry hill mall had some great curbs and manual pads so my skate crew would often just hang around the area.

likewise when I was a kid all of the skaters in the area had the safe haven that was Black Diamond at the Moorestown Mall, that place was legit heaven on earth for us. I want to say in middle school I was there almost every weekend during the cold months. I still bump into people that I knew from there and we get to reminisce on the shared experience and talk about just how awesome that place was… It was so heartbreaking when the movie theatre bought out the space. RIP Black Diamond.

In the late 90s, they banned hanging out at playgrounds at dusk. Much like deforestation, when you destroy the teenager's natural habitat, they start invading civilized spaces. I had to retreat to this very mall when the much closer park was cut off to us.
