I am hearing the benefits are top tier I need top tier benefits right now, also that sucks so regardless you’ll start low that’s insane

The health benefits are good. You can negotiate the step that you start on if they do offer you a position.

With 10 years of experience you can probably start in the middle of that range. But, also I wanted to add that not every agency that hires for the state uses the civil service board. The NJ department of labor and NJ OHSP are two that maintain their own job boards. Look them up directly for more jobs.
