What kind of idiots don't have access to their own accounts and can change the password when someone leaves / gets fired?

Lmao you’d be surprised how often the people in charge have no clue what they’re doing.

I was laid off after 40 years with the same company, which went through many owners. During that time the company acquired many computer systems. I made it my job to document all the user names and passwords and gave it to the respective department heads. Two days after my termination I got a call asking for passwords. “Gee, I don’t remember” was my reply.

Oh no, I wouldn't be surprised at all... but it's ridiculous...

As a digital marketing consultant you would be surprised how common this is.

Just crazy how people literally don't (can't?) think.
Even if they didn't bother to have that stuff documented before, you'd think they'd have made sure to get the login/password before they fired him. Did they not even think for a hot second about who was going to take on those responsibilities afterwards, and how?
Hilariously stupid.
