My sister is planning to move to New Milford for work. Crime stats websites either come back with warnings or glowing review of safety. Local cops said it's a quiet place, mostly basic property theft and damage crime wise.
Anyone care to share their opinion so I can help a sister out?
Yea it’s safe. I used to live and work there. Never had an issue there
Car jackings? Or theft of vehicles where people leave their key fobs inside?

Car theft has been an issue county-wide in Bergen, not carjackings. New Milford is not on or near the top of the case theft list.
Been living in NM for over 10 years, it’s safe and folks are generally very nice . Has a small town feel but close to NYC and Malls
Are there any apartment complexes you would warn people to avoid, if you are familiar with any?
I lived in brookchester apartments in 2006.
A lot of New Milford is apartments and they are mostly identical.
I really liked it there. It has a small town feel in the middle of bustling bergen county.
Safe Town, but there are some sketchy parts. The apartments across the street from the liquor store that used to have a hidden bar behind the back are basically where all the problems come from.
They have had some flooding issues in areas in recent years too to watch out for.
Do you remember the name of that liquor store? I see there are a couple. I know there's that large collection of apartment complexes across from the CVS.
I don't know, they spun the bar off to its own thing a few years ago (and its a good bar), but yeah, same place, across from the CVS shopping center.
probably 90% of problems in that town come from there. I always thought it was one complex, but regardless.
I wouldn't say the area is unsafe, but wouldn't be my first choice.

Lived in New Milford for the first 29 years of my life. There were certain, very small, parts of the city which were a little sketchy, but overall not much happened in the area.
Anything worthy of avoiding or that's just the only "action" in town?
Apart from flooding, New Milford is super safe
Very safe town, one of the safest in the county/state. Near a lot of stuff and the city and a nice, quiet place to live.
