I’m honestly stupid and I have the reading compression of a kindergartener. My friends and I want to take a trip to the American Dream mall next weekend. As I’m looking into parking to see if it’s cheaper to take a bus/train instead of car. I saw it said 30 minutes is free but after that it’s $5 vehicle. So is it safe to assume that I could stay there for maybe like 5 hours and my price would be the $5 plus tax or does it charge hourly?

I think it’s $5 for the first 3.5 hours after the free 30 minutes. If you are there for the attractions you can validate your parking ticket so you are not charged if you’re staying longer.
Unless you visit during a Giants/Jets game, just park across the train station on the other side. Its a 5 minute walk in the tunnel and you dont have to deal with the clusterfuck parking garage
The thought of paying to have the privilege of parking at a mall is ridiculous.
A lot of people seem to agree as there are tons of vacant storefronts in that mall.
Shouldn’t the mall just charge $40 since their clientele are dumb enough to be OK with paying to park AT A MALL? May as well fully exploit them if you already have them.

Oh my comment wasn’t aimed at you. I just post negativity-themed snark whenever the Mall topic appears. The history of it’s protracted taxpayer funded development rankles everyone who’s seen it festering out in the Meadowlands since the 90’s, and who understands the greed, graft, poor decisions, ugliness, and everything else it represents and has ALWAYS represented.

I think it was first 1 hour free then $3 flat. It’s big place. What can you do for 30mins?!
I didn’t know about the history behind it :0. But now I’m interested to find out more! I’m not surprised by it giving the local and the amount of stuff in that mall alone.
The website states for 30 minutes it’s free and after that it’s $5 per vehicle. At most id think someone would do an order pick up maybe? This is just a safe assumption given I’ve never been there before.
