Recently went to Maggiano’s, and while the food is good the atmosphere isn’t quite the best for a romantic date. Any suggestions on a more upscale place in or near Bergen county?

Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions. It’s eerily suspicious that mode of The places recommended were 4.5 stars on Google Maps.

I didn’t find magginos great. Yes the portions are massive but the quality of food was ehh.

When I want good italian, I do “from scratch” in Ridgewood or “bottagra” in Hawthorne

Food is great at a good price. It could get crowded on weekends. We go early evenings and ask for the table in the back corner. Very cozy for two. It usually reserved for bigger parties.

Michaelangelo’s in Boonton

I’ve been there for several special occasions and it’s very nice. Order the bolognese pasta. It’s the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
