Does anyone have any recommendations of hobby stores in North Jersey (stores for tabletop gaming, like warhammer 40K) that are welcoming and can help me get started? Only one I’ve really been able to find is in Maplewood, but was wondering if there are any other options

Edit: for reference, I am in Hudson County

Family Fun Hobbies in Hamilton is solidly Central but hobby shops are uncommon in general, if you end up taking a drive anyway can’t do better than them.

It might be out of the way for you but bearded dragon in bernardsville has a huge selection of tabletop games. They mostly host events for magic the gathering or dungeons and dragons so you might wanna give them a call before heading there to see what they have.

Do they have games for sale upstairs? I only checked out the downstairs which was not a very big selection.

There is a place called Warhammer in Abereen on Rt 34. I am not a gamer so can't vouch for it.

It's an official Warhammer store and it's pretty good! They do giveaways and events and the guy that runs it is nice. They do have funky hours so I usually check their Facebook page or call before I go to make sure they're open. Admittedly I usually only drop in to buy miniature painting supplies.

Maplewood Hobby has a pretty big Warhammer and other wargames community.

There's a 3D Games & Hobbies store up in Franklin. They got a good selection of games to purchase (usually) and a bunch to free play. Inventory can sometimes be a bit lacking though, but you'll only really find more niche stuff there.

Admittedly it's not that close to you, but the Gilded Raven is a gaming and hobby store that just opened in Somerset county.

Wow, these guys have what looks like 8 very expensive gaming tables. That seems like an unwise expenditure for a store that just opened. I will check it out though when I'm in the area.

All In One Collectibles in Randolph on Rte 10 West may have some, and you may be able to get them at F & M Hobby Center in Flanders on 206 south

I play MTG but All In One definitely has warhammer tables in the back and I think weekly warcraft nights.

If you head down rt 10 in Randolph you can hit up 2 stores that are like a mile apart. All In One Collectables and Mythic Studios(i think thats what its called)

New World Manga.

They definitely cater to trading card games. I've been in a few times to buy packs and recall seeing some table top gaming but that might have been 2+ years ago

There used to be one in Morristown on South St., near the green, but not sure that it survived COVID.
