It's a slaughterhouse. There's hardly a slaughterhouse that isn't deeply cruel.

While I do get the point you are trying to make, we do have laws on how the animals need to be treated up until that point, and to handle the process humanely so the animals don't have to suffer unnecessary levels of cruelty

How often those laws are enforced is another question entirely, as with a lot of regulations, but they exist in theory

I'd be more amazed if there was a single one that wasn't horrifically cruel.

Plant or animal, it is fundamentally immoral that we have to end life to sustain life. Is the level of that immorality set by how closely a living thing is to human? Perhaps, but that does appear a bit of an arbitrary metric to judge by.

Plants don't feel pain and are incapable of suffering by any metric currently known. Animals do feel pain and are capable of monumental suffering.

Your argument is bad and disingenuous.

It's not that black or white. The video shows the animals still concious when they are being cut and just abusive behavior before slaughter that has zero to do with getting them to slaughter. This company has violated so many rules and federal regulations that they have even been hiding tainted meat where animal fecal matter infected with E Coli was literally killing people who consumed it.

Welcome to Halal meat processing.

This is not a mistake, it is how the animal must be slaughtered to be considered Halal.

I believe there are similar rules for Kosher slaughter as well.

Neither are humane.

Today and Today only!! Join PETA BBQ division where succulent little furry morsels are barbequed to perfection. They don't suffer as their heads are chopped off and recycled using pigs. Carnivore to carnivore. Join now as limited space on the grill will only last for a short time.

A vegan is someone who doesn't eat anything that comes from an animal. They eat a plant, nut, no animal diet. But, pretending that them not eating meat harms no animals is missing a crucial point. Animals do get killed to make sure those crops grow.

Idk man, many plants react to touch, light, and temperature sensations, who's to say they don't also react with their own form of pain. No scientific study has yet proven one way or another with plants and pain.

Yep, same rules for Kosher, to kill and animal in a kosher way they have to follow a process of basically having the cows lean in a way in which blood pools to their head and the cow gets woozy or can even go unconscious, then as quickly as possible you cut the neck artery killing the cow quickly and with "minimal" suffering to the cow. It's not necessarily humane, but it is meant to minimize the suffering of the dying animal.

I don't understand why people don't realize that the entire meat industry is predicated on suffering and abject cruelty. Profit comes above all else. Pigs are born into horrific conditions, bred until they're killed or their uteruses prolapse. Females spend their entire lives in tiny crates, unable to move, to turn around, going insane from these conditions. Others get to live in cramped and barren pens with no access to sunlight or fresh air. They're abused and beaten by workers and allowed to suffer with open wounds and infections. If cattle are lucky they get to spend time on pasture, but dairy cattle are confined to disgusting lots, standing in their own piss and shit and allowed to suffer with laminitis from corn-heavy diets. And poultry are on level with pigs for the torturous conditions they experience. There is nothing remotely humane about the meat industry.

We require food on a mass scale to feed our population. We must slaughter animals. Now, we can either do that with as little pain as possible or we can inflict untold levels of pain on billions of animals every year. What do you think we should do?

That's also not what vegan is but feel free to build yet another strawman. Looking up a definition isn't that hard.

"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Dominion, a documentary about the animal agriculture industry, is a brutal and very thorough exploration of these conditions. It's a gut-wrenching watch but everyone who eats meat and buys eggs or milk should know exactly what they are contributing to. I have no problem with eating meat or eggs/animal products in theory, but the industry is horrific and most of these animals will live short and deprived lives.

And obviously you're not bothered by your pets vocalizing in their carriers, they can come out afterward and it's for their own health.

I don't think anyone isn't aware that a slaughterhouse is not kind to animals. We need our McDonald's though!
