Hey, slingin puppies out the window on a highway at 95mph and surviving your 3rd school shooting by the time you graduate with a bachelors is the price of freedom baby! /s I feel like I have to indicate sadly
It's ok, I laughed before I got to the /s. π
I mean, you can even get dog car seats for smaller dogs, I have one, even if it was a law. But getting people to properly use child safety seats is a struggle, so there's your answer, really.

Lmao Australian 'nanny state' strikes again, car seats/booster seats are required until age 7 and recommended for kids under something like 140cm. πππ Faaaark, I'm still always weirdly surprised-but-not-surprised when I find out stuff like this happening in the US.

Pretty sure they've gone through enough now.
I almost saw a puppy do this exact same thing a few hours north on the 101 today. Passenger opened back truck window for dog to stick itβs head out and it was super cute until it started to try and climb into the truck bed. They got it back in but I was stressing for sure.

Holy fuck. It's illegal to have your dog unsecured in the car here in Australia. I feel this is a very reasonable measure by the government.
