They're white folks that play christian, and the government will bend over backward to avoid any talk of arresting, terrorism or the like.

Nah, most of the politicians in the higher levels of government for the right are about as religious as my socks. But their voters are a lot more god-bothering, so it behooves the politicians to put that face on to appeal to their base.

With a few exceptions that really are crazed zealots.
