As the show progressed we saw Red switch from "superior" US cars to more reliable Japanese and soften on most of his other own personal biases. He would be a moderate Democrat by today's standards.

Most foreign cars are. something like 40% of BMW's are, I think.

IIRC that really started happening after the plant he had been working at for decades closed down and he had to go work at the (forget name) store.

I think Kitty already was driving a Toyota when he was laid off, but they still had the Vista Cruiser.

Store was Price Mart. Basically Kmart but they didn’t want to pay royalties.
