Happy to see this vs their option of selling the land & having mcmansions or new amazon warehouses coming to a town near you. No farm, no food.

Major farms here grow corn or soybeans (shipped to Japan) in rotation. Unless you count indirect food in the corn, it's not food for here.

I really question if farms that grow corn or soybeans can fail. Land prices suggest it's not likely.

Plenty around here for sale, rezoned. They must be selling for some reason.

Likely because land prices are insane. If someone will pay it and no one in the family wants it, it's worth big money, especially close to town

To be fair, 1 billion dollars is a fairly small amount.

You're acting like no one would take up farming if farms failed.

Now apply the same logic to any other business. No jc Penny's, no clothes.

meat products make up 80% of the land usage for 20% of the calories gained.

We can tell 4/5's of farms to go fuck themselves. have 1/5th switch to plant based food on 1/4th the land needed. and have no caloric difference. This also massively reduces water usage, and GHG emissions.

No farms, Same (albiet different type) food.
