Major farms here grow corn or soybeans (shipped to Japan) in rotation. Unless you count indirect food in the corn, it's not food for here.

I really question if farms that grow corn or soybeans can fail. Land prices suggest it's not likely.

Likely because land prices are insane. If someone will pay it and no one in the family wants it, it's worth big money, especially close to town
