For someone 'in the know', does this not count as cruel and unusual punishment? Since it was a beating brought on by state-sanctioned guards before a trial was ever given. Makes me assume all charges are dropped and someone get's a hefty paycheck.

It was partially in retaliation for the inmate breaking an officer’s wrist and resisting arrest earlier in the day before this video was recorded

Thank you for the context. So then, yes, it is cruel and unusual punishment for breaking someone’s wrist and resisting arrest. Because I’m pretty sure the punishment for assault and resisting arrest isn’t supposed to be a beating.

As the law stands the incident must be Cruel AND Unusual. Both not either.
